GEA College Celebrated Its 20th Anniversary at the Grand Hotel Union

20 years ago, GEA College – Faculty of Entrepreneurship broke new ground in the field of entrepreneurship education. From the outset the faculty board had a clear vision: to act globally and internationally and at the same time to be a partner of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial minded. In twenty years they escorted on an independent business path more than 2,000 graduates. To celebrate their 20th anniversary, they organized a festive programme featuring a hot debate on entrepreneurship in Slovenia. The celebrations took place on the 26 October 2016 in Grand Hotel Union, in Ljubljana.

“We are proud of all our student’s successful entrepreneurial stories. In these years they have written a lot of them. All our students are encouraged to be bold, different, innovative and enterprising, because we want them to leave their mark in the world,” said prof. dr. Marjan Merkač Skok, Dean of the Faculty of Entrepreneurship – GEA College.

“GEA College is a brave attempt that I wish was available to me as a student of the Faculty of Economics: to do something more, to stand out and dare to aim even higher,”emphasized in his address the Mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Janković.

The central part of the celebratory event of the first private school for entrepreneurship in Slovenia was a round table on the future of Slovenian entrepreneurship moderated by Uroš Slak and Bernarda Žarn. Attending the round table was also successful businessman Sandi Češko, co-founder and co-owner of Studio Moderna, who is optimistic about the future of Slovenian entrepreneurs: “Generation of entrepreneurs who come will on one hand have an easier job, because they will not have to build everything from scratch. On the other hand, they will have to work more qualitatively, in a new way. Slovenians are very creative and extremely competitive, in a positive sense, so I don’t see this being a problem.”
Janez Škrabec, Director of Riko added: “We have always found a way and we will find it also in the future because we have everything we need: innovation and perseverance.”

The gala event was held in the Grand Union Hall, the most beautiful hall in Grand Hotel Union. Guests were pampered by culinary delights prepared by Union Hotel’s chefs.
