Portorož and Piran, two beautiful towns are offering a truly authentic cultural composition of the Mediterranean flair, fascinating history and inspiring modernity. St. Bernardin is one of the most important player in the SEE region as a Mediterranean meetings industry supplier. The Bernardin Resort has one of the biggest congress centres in Slovenia and can host events up to 1,100 delegates. Various events can be held also at the zen-oriented LifeClass Hotels & Resorts, elegant Kempinski Palace Portorož, or other other venues along Slovenian coast.

Besides congresses, meetings and events, the destination has also strong appeal for incentive experiences – there are limitless opportunities for outdoor pursuits, everything from sailing in Adriatic Sea, or kayaking through the Fonda Fish Garden, to truffle hunting and wine tasting, exploring natural and cultural heritage of Mediterranean region, or just relax and unwind in one of the spas along coast.

Every corner of Slovenia seems to contain something magical, and this regard the Green Karst region which is something of a microcosmos of the entire nation. Karst, a plateau in the southwest of Slovenia, is nestled between the Brkini Hills, the Gulf of Trieste, the Vipava Valley and Istria. It is the fatherland of three features: Teran wine, Karst prosciutto and gale wind. Karst is distinguished by a harmonious combination of continental and mild sub-Mediterranean climate of the Northern Adriatic.

Karst is famous for its range of caves just waiting to be explored. Postojna Cave might get the most plaudits internationally, but it is the relatively unexplored Križna Cave with its underground lakes and galleries. The Škocjan Caves remain the only monument in Slovenia and the Classical Karst region on UNESCO’s list of natural and cultural world heritage sites. Thus, they hold a significant position among the world’s natural monuments. The lush fields of the Karst are home to a rare breed of white stallion – the Lipizzaner horse. Lipica Stud Farm is a must-visit, it’s one of the oldest stud farms in the world and the birthplace of the Lipizzaner.

Perhaps an exciting adventure in one of the mysterious caves or disappearing lakes, or discover old Karst villages on your voyage with an old-timer and head off to a gala dinner in one of the noble castles? Mediterranean and Karst offer many other cultural, ethnological and culinary specialties that attract visitors to the region. As famous Slovene poet wrote “My soul is jolly as if it were drinking Karst Teran!”  Come and see for yourself ….
