Another three very important international congresses took place in Slovenia, choosing CD Congress Centre Ljubljana as their venue.

After the academic success of the ENCALS 2017 conference, taking place at the CD Congress Centre between 18 and 20 May 2017 and focusing on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a devastating disease that is still lacking an effective cure, this major Slovenian venue hosted another two very important scientific events in days to follow. Firstly, the 4th World Landslide Forum (29th May to 2nd June) with a title Landslide Research and Risk Reduction for Advancing Culture of Living with Natural Hazards. More than 500 scientists, engineers, and researchers/policy makers working in landslide technology, landslide disaster investigation and landslide remediation gathered to share their work. 4WLF was jointly organised by the International Consortium on Landslides (Kyoto, Japan), the International Programme on Landslides (IPL), the University of Ljubljana and the Geological Survey of Slovenia.

The CD Congress Centre Ljubljana and its team have once more lived up to the flattering reviews received from international congress organisers that Slovenia offers a great congress infrastructure and is a perfect congress destination.

Returning after a decade to its roots and the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, the sixth European Conference on Tribology, ECOTRIB, was proudly hosted by the CD Congress Centre from 7 to 9 June. The conference, organised by the Slovenian Society for Tribology in collaboration with tribological societies from Austria, Italy and Switzerland, has become well established and recognised in Europe. Tribology, a branch of mechanical engineering and materials science, includes the study and application of the principles of friction, lubrication and wear. It is most significant in manufacturing processes.
