9th International Conference on Dementia – ASK 2017

On Friday 20th and Saturday 21st October 2017 in Terme Catez SPA, Spominčica – Azheimer Slovenia organized the 9th International Conference on Dementia – ASK 2017 entitled “For dementia friendly society“. The conference also marked the 20th anniversary of Spominčica – Alzheimer Slovenia. More than 300 delegates attended the conference, international scientists, experts and professionals from different fields of dementia (medicine, pharmacy, psychology and social work, electrical engineering, textile technology and law). Carers, volunteers, persons with dementia and their families also actively participated.

Dr. Anja Kopač Mrak, Minister of work, family, social affairs and equal oportunities, Vlasta Nussdorfer, Ombudsman of human rights and Helga Rhora, European Working Group of Persons with Dementa, attended the opening ceremony. Milojka Kolar Celarc, Minister of Health, and Paola Barbarino, CEO of Alzheimer’s Disease International, sent their letters of support. The conference had plenary and parallel sessions with 48 speakers from Europe, USA, Australia and Slovenia.

ASK 2017 is a continuation of Psychogeriatric meetings, started in 1998 by Aleš Kogoj M.D., Ph.D., pioneer of dementia in Slovenia and founder of Spominčica.
