In a spectacular event hosted by Ljubljana’s esteemed event venue, Cankarjev dom, the 2nd Liver Interventional Oncology meeting, known as LIO2023, unfolded its success story. This prestigious event drew hundreds of international luminaries in the field of liver oncology. Jointly orchestrated by the Slovenian Association of Radiology in collaboration with the Radiology Department of the Faculty of Medicine Ljubljana and the ERA Institute, LIO2023 took place at Cankarjev dom from October 5 to 7, 2023.

Interventional oncology, an ever-evolving frontier, has risen to become the fourth cornerstone of liver cancer therapy, standing alongside medical, surgical, and radiation oncology care. As the youngest and most rapidly expanding domain within interventional radiology, the association’s primary objective was to craft an interdisciplinary scientific gathering. The conference featured lectures and delegates representing various clinical professions engaged in liver disease treatment. The program encompassed both international and Slovenian speakers, educational hands-on workshops, and satellite symposiums, all with a resolute focus on showcasing established therapies and presenting the latest research findings and cutting-edge technologies.

One of the most significant assemblies in the Adriatic region dedicated to liver interventional oncology, this meeting attracted a diverse array of specialists in radiology, oncology, gastroenterology, surgery, radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, and various other medical branches. Additionally, nurses, radiological technologists, and students participated, enriching the exchange of insights and knowledge.

This conference provided a distinctive opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field, share experiences, and connect with colleagues from across the globe. Cankarjev dom’s dedicated team ensured the seamless execution of the event, offering unwavering technical support throughout the three-day event. The setting at Cankarjev dom’s Club CD was ideal for fostering medical innovation and facilitating the exchange of valuable experiences.
