Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana hosted the annual meeting of vascular disease experts from three international and one Slovene organization.
For three days, Cankarjev dom – CD Cultural and Congress Centre Ljubljana (CD) hosted the regular annual meeting of three most important international organizations in the field of vascular diseases: ESVM – European Society for Vascular Medicine, IUA – International Union for Angiology and CEVF – Central European Vascular Forum. “The Slovenian Society for Vascular Diseases was honored in 2019 to organize this joint meeting,” notes prof. Matija Kozjak from University Medical Centre Ljubljana and the Congress President. “The congress with expected 300 – 400 participants was joined also by the regular annual meeting of the Slovenian Society for Vascular Diseases.”
In October, vascular diseases were illuminated, both from the diagnostic point of view and their treatment, which includes medicines, various instrumental interventions, and also classical surgical procedures. An additional important part presented the preventive measures and rehabilitation. The programme, which took place in several of the CD’s halls, included state-of-the-art and plenary lectures, satellite symposia, oral presentations, and poster sessions.
“Special attention was given to recent findings relevant to everyday clinical practice such as: new anticoagulant drugs, novelties in the treatment of dyslipidaemia, novelties in thrombolytic treatment of stroke, new devices for the treatment of coronary and peripheral arterial disease, venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, chronic superficial venous insufficiency, diseases of the aorta,” notes prof Kozjak.
As this meeting is considered to be the most important European vascular meeting this year, it included pharmaceutical as well as medical technology companies “Our meeting is interesting both, for professionals focused on vascular problems, as well as for those who do not encounter this on a daily basis,” emphasizes Prof. Kozjak and concludes that Cankarjev dom in the center of Ljubljana is “close to the hotels suitable for participants and close to the old city centre where all congress attendees can find something interesting.”
