A milestone year was 2001, when construction finished on the connecting lobby designed by Sadar Vuga Arhitekti. The building now unites neoclassical and modern architecture into a delightful whole. The palace is found on one of Ljubljana’s most beautiful streets, in the company of the Slovenian National Theatre, the Ljubljana Opera and Ballet, the Museum of Contemporary Arts and the city’s green oasis – park Tivoli, another opportunity for special meetings. The National Gallery Palace, built in 1896, has traditionally been a house of social gatherings and is considered a Slovenian cultural monument. The interiors are impressive, entering the elegant space visitors are greeted by the original Robba Fountain sculpted by Francesco Robba, inspired by Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers. A replica Robba fountain now stands before the City Hall in Ljubljana, while the original is preserved here as a cultural monument of national importance.
