Flatlands Conference in Bled

More than 100 international scientists gathered in Bled from 5 to 8 July 2016, for the Flatlands conference organized by Institute Jožef Stefan. Hotel Golf hosted the conference which raised scientific discussions and provided information exchange across the frontiers of research in the field of two-dimensional materials.

The Flatlands conference series started in 2013 in Bremen, Germany, continued in Dublin and were last year held in Ramat Gan, Israel. The Slovenian city of Bled also known as the Alpine pearl was chosen as the destination for this year’s conference and Hotel Golf as the main venue.

International scientists with common professional interests in the growth, processing, chemistry, structure, electronics, photonics, and fundamental physics of two-dimensional materials attended the event. Speakers came from all over the world; from USA to Japan and even Israel shared their expertise and ideas.

Next to the technical support of the conference, the staff of Hotel Golf also made sure that the catering was on a top-notch level and that the guests from abroad were able to taste the mouth watering Slovenian culinary creations. The conference offer was complimented by the offer of the hotel’s wellness centre and hotel swimming pools with a view of the famous Lake Bled, just perfect for cooling down after a long conference day.
