At the end of June 2019, the GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre (GR) was a venue for one of the at least three medical meetings which took place at the biggest Slovenian convention venue in 2019. The three-day event, the Annual RIMS Conference 2019, the 24th conference about rehabilitation and multiple sclerosis, gathered international experts from the field of multiple sclerosis and its rehabilitation.
The conference was organised by RIMS in partnership with the MS Centre Ljubljana. The RIMS Conference is the main European event for healthcare professionals, researchers and patient representatives to share their knowledge and experiences and collaborate on topics related to rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis. In 2019, the conference’s main theme was ‘Crossing the Interface to Explore New Possibilities and it focused on the following 5 areas: Beyond Europe, Integrated Care, Technical Opportunities, The Sociological Perspective and Lessons from the Laboratory.
There were around 450 international rehabilitation physicians and neurologists, nurses and therapists (e.g. exercise physiologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, neuropsychologists, social workers, speech and language therapists) and all professionals involved or interested in MS rehabilitation research and practice.
One of the other two medical conferences taking place this year in GR that were the most noticeable was the 37th ESPID, organised by GR’s partner, the Kenes International. The 37thAnnual Meeting of the European Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID) was attended by 2.300 participants from 90 countries what made the congress the event of the year 2019 in Slovenia. While another one of the three was the three-day Health Equity Conference, under the auspices of the World Health Organisation, the international conference about health equity, gender equality and the right to the highest attainable standard of health, that took place in all GR’s halls on 11-13 June 2019.
GR’s first half of the year was eventful and now it’s time for a well-deserved summer break.
