Ilona Stermecki is the new Acting Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board

On 6 December 2021, Ilona Stermecki, M.Sc., took over the position of Acting Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board.

On 6 December 2021, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia appointed Ilona Stermecki as the new Acting Director of the STB. Ilona Stermecki has years of experience in the field of tourism, especially in the field of agency management, destination management, development of tourism products and experiences and tourism management.

Upon taking over the position, Ilona Stermecki pointed out: “This is a great challenge for me, and above all the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with the STB team and in close cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology and other ministries continue further development of Slovenia as a green, active, healthy and safe destination with a sustainable orientation. In addition to eliminating the consequences of the pandemic, our key goals will be to strengthen and raise Slovenia’s visibility in the international arena, continue with sustainable orientation and digitalization of tourism, promote local and network with the Slovenian tourism stakeholders from the bottom up. As people are of key importance in tourism, it is extremely important that all stakeholders in the tourism industry, both small and large, feel an equal and extremely important part of the success story of Slovenian tourism, since this is the only way to feel connected and continue to write this story of an even more recognizable and competitive tourist destination on a global scale.”
