Maribor to Follow Green Guidelines

The Mayor of Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia, has, along with local entrepreneurs, accepted 10 principles of sustainability to commit the city of Maribor to sustainable operations and constant improvements in the city. The city will now follow the green guidelines of Slovenian tourism. Visit Maribor and create new memories among the green hills and vineyards in the east of Slovenia. 

Maribor is the home of the oldest vine in the world. It grows in Lent, the most romantic and liveliest part of the city, located along the oldest city walls by the Drava river. In the summer, Lent hosts the largest Slovenian outdoor festivalFestival Lent. Wander around the streets of Maribor and relax in the City Park, which is considered one of the most beautiful parks of its kind in Slovenia.

On Earth Day, the Green policy document of Slovenian tourism for the municipality of Maribor was signed. With it, the mayor and the local community will work in the best sustainable interests of the city and follow the guidelines of the Green Scheme of Slovenian tourism. This document reflects efforts to develop tourism with a sustainable impact on the environment, the local community and the economy. All the stakeholders are obliged to follow the green principles and build a greener destination together.
