The Scientific Committee of IWC Returned to Bled for its Annual Meeting

The 67th International whaling commission (IWC) welcomed around 200 scientists who enjoyed the best congress offer of picturesque Bled, the Alpine meeting “pearl“ from 9th May to 21st May 2017.

This was already the third time the Scientific Committee of IWC gathered in Hotel Golf in Bled, after organizing the event at Bled already in 2014 and 2016. The organizational board of IWC explained their choice of Bled as the event destination with great and professional services of destination, boutique MICE destination offering numerous possibilities, Sava Hotels & Resorts as their partner providing great meetings facilities and diverse accommodation and let’s not forget the splendid Slovenian hospitality. No wonder the organizational board of IWC decided to meet once again in Bled, an Alpine piece of heaven where the Slovenian hospitality and friendliness meets the high-quality congress offer.

The length of the event again proved to be some sort of a challenge in accommodating all the delegates and providing the requested 6-11 meeting rooms through all 13 days (and even more days with additional meetings before and after the official event) in such a boutique destination as Bled and constantly taking care of delegates with great hospitality, focusing on personal touch so they could feel like home through all the conference. Based on the delegates budget and wishes, Sava Hotels & Resorts as one of the most diverse MICE stakeholders in Slovenia again proved to be an excellent host, accommodating all the conference participants at their 4 Bled hotels, ranging from 3 to 5-stars, including Hotel Park, Hotel Savica, Grand Hotel Toplice and recently renovated 4-star Hotel Golf.

The International whaling commission returned to Slovenia after already organizing the event last year and in 2014. Welcoming around 200 of the world’s leading cetacean scientists who gathered to discuss the latest research on a wide range of subjects related to cetacean conservation and management.
