And we are thrilled to announce that the winner is&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitljubljana.com\/en\/visitors\/\">Ljubljana<\/a><\/strong>. In the description, the organisers wrote:&nbsp;<em>&#8220;Ljubljana is a city for curious and adventurous souls. The city is a treasure trove of exciting secrets and natural joys. The proud green capital of Slovenia invites all vagabonds who are hungry for culture, art, entertainment, and large green areas, which provide a relaxed atmosphere.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With 56% of votes&nbsp;from Europe and 44% from elsewhere,&nbsp;<strong>Ljubljana<\/strong>&nbsp;is the preferred destination of American, Italian, German, Austrian and Croatian travellers. Not only that&nbsp;Ljubljana won the European Best Destination 2022 competition, it&nbsp;won it with the highest number of votes outside its borders in the entire history of this competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 20 January to 10 February 2022, people from all over the world had a chance to vote for one of the 20 destinations shortlisted for the European Best Destination 2022. Next to&nbsp;<strong>Ljubljana<\/strong>, the list included&nbsp;<strong>Amalfi Coast, Amiens, Athens, Bavaria, Clonakilty, Crete, Graz, Istanbul, Lahti Region, Leuven, London, Lucerne, Marbella, Nijmegen, Oradea, Plovdiv, Prague, Rome<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Vienna<\/strong>. The competition is annually organised by EuropeanBestDestinations.com in partnership with the European Commission&#8217;s EDEN network and media partners Forbes US and Cond\u00e9 Nast Travelers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;We would like to thank all those who voted for Ljubljana in Slovenia and all around the globe for the immense support (over 75,000! votes).&nbsp;We are really proud that our capital city&#8217;s comittment to sustainable tourism development, social cohesion and quality of life is internationally recognized, and that travellers from all over the globe consider Ljubljana a one-of-a-kind destination also for its cultural offer, shopping, gastronomy, nature, and more.
