The Styrian capital\u00a0received\u00a0more than 68,600 votes and beat\u00a0tourist icons such as Vienna, London, Copenhagen and Prague, and among the culinary destinations, Rome, Porto and Paris.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.slovenia.info\/media\/cache\/resolve\/1200x800\/uploads\/TTA%25202023\/februar%25202023\/MB_top3_1200.jpg\" alt=\"Maribor among the top 3 European destinations in 2023\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Warsaw was&nbsp;named the best 2023 European destination, followed by Athens in second place and Maribor in third place. A total of 686,244 votes from 178 countries were cast on Europe&#8217;s most visited tourism website&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.europeanbestdestinations.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.europeanbestdestinations.com<\/a><\/strong>. 48% of the votes came from within Europe and 52% from outside Europe.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slovenia.info\/en\/places-to-go\/regions\/alpine-slovenia\/maribor-pohorje\">Maribor<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;received the most votes from&nbsp;<strong>the UK<\/strong>&nbsp;(28% of the votes),&nbsp;<strong>the USA&nbsp;<\/strong>(13%),&nbsp;<strong>Germany<\/strong>&nbsp;(11%),&nbsp;<strong>Austria<\/strong>&nbsp;(9%),&nbsp;<strong>France<\/strong>&nbsp;(6%) and&nbsp;<strong>Italy<\/strong>&nbsp;(5.4%).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The destinations will be included&nbsp;in the iintensive international promotional campaign in the prestigious media such as Forbes USA, Cond\u00e9 Nast Travelers, National Geographic, Corriere Viaggi, Yahoo and Geo.
