What began as a modest spa with just 10 rooms has grown into one of Slovenia\u2019s and the Adriatic\u2019s most iconic destinations, renowned for wellness, leisure, and Mediterranean charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The story began in 1885, when Piran physician Giovanni Lugnani transformed part of a local chemical factory into a thermal spa, laying the foundation for Portoro\u017e as a top-quality health and leisure resort. By 1897, Portoro\u017e was officially recognized as a spa town, spurring further development and attracting international visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Postcard from Portoro\u017e \u2013 Main Celebration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday, September 27 at 6 PM, the square Trg prekomorskih brigad will host&nbsp;<em>Postcard from Portoro\u017e: 140 Years of Tourism<\/em>. The event will pay tribute to the role of postcards in promoting the town through history. Visitors will be able to send a special commemorative postcard and enjoy a rich program, including the&nbsp;<strong>Tourism Excellence Award 2025<\/strong>ceremony, a historical fashion show by Barbara Misson, and a concert by the legendary band&nbsp;<strong>Faraoni<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local flavors will complement the festivities, with dishes such as marinated sardines, seafood lasagna, fish stew, the Piran specialty \u0160\u2019torta cake, Bled cream slice, and premium Istrian wines. Admission is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conference on Regenerative Tourism<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday, September 26 at 12 PM, the Faculty of Tourism Studies \u2013 Turistica will host a conference entitled&nbsp;<em>Tourism that Gives Back to People and Destinations<\/em>. Speakers from Greece, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia will explore how tourism can go beyond sustainability to become regenerative \u2013 giving back more to communities and nature than it takes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference will be held in English and moderated by Assoc.
