Its name \u2013 SLOVEnia \u2013 even has the English word &#8220;love&#8221; running through it! Slovenia\u2019s brand <strong>I Feel Slovenia<\/strong> doesn&#8217;t carry such a title by chance. Slovenia cannot be encapsulated only by an image, it has to be felt and experienced. We\u2019re aiming to present our country\u2019s brand <strong>through a personal touch <\/strong>and <strong>experiences for all the senses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>GREEN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Forests, Waters, Principles<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are <strong>over 20,000 animal and plant <\/strong>species on slightly more than <strong>20,000 sq. km<\/strong> of territory. Over <strong>one third of Slovenia<\/strong> is included in the <strong>Natura 2000 network<\/strong> \u2013 a European network of special protected areas that were chosen by European Union members in order to preserve important biological diversity in Europe. Slovenia is the <strong>third most forested country in Europe<\/strong> and according to the amount of river water per inhabitant, among the <strong>water richest countries in Europe<\/strong>. Slovenia carefully <strong>preserves its natural richness<\/strong>, which is a feature of all Slovenian regions.<\/p>\n<p>As you might imagine, sustainability is at the very heart of what we do, and we\u2019re now being rewarded for our efforts. <strong>Tolmin<\/strong>, which lies at the Slovenian Italian border, has been named <strong>Alpine Town of the Year 2016<\/strong> for sustainable development and for strengthening the Alpine identity of the local population. Similarly, our capital <strong>Ljubljana<\/strong> won the prestigious <strong>European Green Capital Award 2016<\/strong> and was the first destination that received a <strong>Golden Certificate of<\/strong> <strong>Slovenia Green Destination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ACTIVE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Europe\u2019s Outdoor Adventure Playground<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The central European country of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lonelyplanet.com\/slovenia\">Slovenia<\/a> packs an <strong>adventure-sports punch<\/strong> much greater than its diminutive size would suggest. The water, climate and other factors are the core of the offer of the <strong>15 certified natural spa resorts<\/strong>. The <strong>thermal and mineral waters<\/strong> in Slovenia have been the source of health for centuries.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s not all \u2013 Slovenia is equally proud of its traditional <strong>Slovenian cuisine<\/strong>, with particular acclaim to wine region Gori\u0161ka Brda, a <strong>European Destination of Excellence 2015<\/strong>. Tourists have been visiting it since 1633. Every year the Vilenica <strong>international literary prize<\/strong> is awarded in the cave&#8217;s &#8216;Ballroom&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.park-skocjanske-jame.si\/en\/\"><strong>\u0160kocjan Caves<\/strong><\/a> remain the only monument in Slovenia and the Classical Karst region on <strong>UNESCO\u2019s list of natural and cultural world heritage sites<\/strong>.
