{"id":5264,"date":"2016-07-15T07:30:01","date_gmt":"2016-07-15T07:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.slovenia-convention.com\/?p=5264"},"modified":"2016-07-11T07:34:47","modified_gmt":"2016-07-11T07:34:47","slug":"translation-dialogue-grand-hotel-bernardin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slovenia-convention.com\/sl\/translation-dialogue-grand-hotel-bernardin\/","title":{"rendered":"Translation for Dialogue at the Grand Hotel Bernardin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Around 100 experts gathered in Bernardin on 23rd of June to participate in the \u201cTranslation for Dialogue\u201d Conference, which was co-organised by the Anna Lindh Foundation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Organizer Ms. Elisabeth Guigou of the Anna Lindh Foundation pointed out the importance of understanding the dialogs among people.\u00a0The main focus of the first high-level conference of its kind in the mediteranian region was the central role of translation in the current emerging socio cultural challenges in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The conference involved all the stakeholders of the \u201ctranslation chain\u201d \u2013 from publishers, authors, academics, libraries, translators, civil society organisations, foundations to public and private institutions, to showcase, debate and advocate for translation as a central tool for intercultural dialogue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Irina Bokova, director general of UNESCO said for this occasion:\u00a0<\/strong><em>\u201cThe crossroads between Africa, Europe and the Middle East, the Mediterranean is a crucible of rich and unique diversity of peoples, cultures, religions, and languages.
