{"id":8253,"date":"2018-04-23T08:18:34","date_gmt":"2018-04-23T08:18:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.slovenia-convention.com\/?p=8253"},"modified":"2018-04-23T08:18:34","modified_gmt":"2018-04-23T08:18:34","slug":"cankarjev-dom-ljubljana-an-inspiring-arts-and-convention-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slovenia-convention.com\/sl\/cankarjev-dom-ljubljana-an-inspiring-arts-and-convention-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Cankarjev dom Ljubljana \u2013 An Inspiring Arts and Convention Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>It goes without saying that diverse conventions, ranging from business meetings to scientific conferences on a global scale, are more inspiring in a venue that boasts a rich programme of artistic events and is declared a Slovenian architectural gem.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Whilst displayed prominently in front of our eyes, the architecture of the buildings that provide the venue for meetings is not always taken into consideration. It\u2019s quite another matter if the gathering takes place in a place like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cd-cc.si\/en\">Cankarjev dom (CD)<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 an arts and congress center with a distinguished artistic and design tradition \u2013 or conducted in just another soulless purpose-built edifice we see in many places today.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.moma.org\/\">New York City\u2019s Museum of Modern Art<\/a><\/strong> (MOMA) is currently hosting the exhibition <em><strong>Towards a Concrete Utopia: Architecture in Yugoslavia, 1948-1980<\/strong><\/em>. Dedicated to foremost Yugoslav architects, the show also features <strong>Edvard Ravnikar<\/strong>, the architect who designed Cankarjev dom. The atmosphere that pervades Cankarjev dom is one of modern yet first-rate architecture \u2013 architecture that furthermore benefits from its diversified interior design, different in each auditorium, and invariably original light installations, all of which creates an impression of something new, fresh, unexpected. This is undoubtedly one of Cankarjev dom\u2019s strongest assets; visitors of cultural events and partners working with its Congress and Event Management department greatly appreciate the outstanding architecture of the venue as well as the countless options of its use.<\/p>\n<p>In late August, the CD\u2019s Congress and Event Management will organize an important international conference <a href=\"http:\/\/docomomo2018.si\/\"><strong>DOCOMOMO<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 a convention by an organization dedicated to preserving the Modern Movement architecture of the 20th century, which will include leading international experts addressing the architectural legacies of<strong> Ple\u010dnik, Fabiani, <\/strong>and<strong> Ravnikar<\/strong>.
