Successful 22nd Annual Meeting of the Slovenian Convention Bureau Held in the Magnificent Rimske Terme Resort

Rimske Toplice, April 2, 2026 – The 22nd annual meeting of the members of the Slovenian Convention Bureau (SCB) took place in the stunning ambiance of Rimske Terme. The event, which brought together key stakeholders from the Slovenian meetings industry, focused on connectivity, technological progress, creativity, and the expansion of the meetings industry throughout Slovenia.

The central part of the meeting was dedicated to presenting the achievements of the past year and ambitious plans arising from the new Strategy for the Development of the Slovenian Meetings Industry 2025–2030. This strategy prioritizes the development of destinations across the entire country and emphasizes the importance of close mutual cooperation in promoting Slovenia as an excellent destination for international events.

Emphasis on Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability, and Creativity

The meeting program featured top-tier content from renowned experts:

– Lenart Kobal, Director of the production house Kobal Production and an expert in visual communications, used practical examples from his own practice to demonstrate how artificial intelligence can achieve a major operational leap in the industry and optimize work processes for greater efficiency.

– Dr. Miha Bratec, Senior Lecturer and Researcher at UP FTŠ – Turistica, highlighted the necessity of sustainable and digital transformation for tourism companies and destinations from a professional and scientific perspective, which is crucial for long-term competitiveness in the global market.

– Aljoša Bagola, one of the most recognized Slovenian creative directors, bestselling author, and lecturer, encouraged participants through his motivational workshop “Creativity, Please” to engage in breakthrough thinking and find innovative solutions in the everyday business environment.

Elections of the Bureau’s Bodies: Continuity and New Strengths

This year’s meeting was also marked by elections for the Bureau’s bodies. For a new mandate in the Council of the Bureau, members re-elected the following current members: Matjaž Žnidaršič (Sava Hotels & Resort)Gorazd Čad (Toleranca marketing)Milan Sajovic (HIT Alpinea), Tomaž Krušič (INTOURS DMC)mag. Petra Stušek (Ljubljana Tourism), and Jure Jezeršek (Jezeršek catering), while Janette Škorc (Rimske Terme Resort) joined the team as a new member. In the Expert Council of the Bureau, members selected Mojca Gobina Mravlje (Sava Hotels & Resort), Anja Mijatović (Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre), and Mateja Sušnik (KNM Travel), while Maja Pančur (Bled Convention Bureau) was re-confirmed for her mandate.

Fredi Fontanot, Director of the Slovenian Convention Bureau, expressed his satisfaction with the industry’s progress at the conclusion of the meeting, stating that this year’s 22nd meeting was held in the spirit of expanding the meetings industry across all of Slovenia and encouraging development in all regions. He added that this was reflected in the choice of the special event location, Rimske Terme, which successfully competes with more established destinations through its high-quality and comprehensive offerings. According to him, it is extremely important for the development of the industry to connect stakeholders, implement joint activities in all Slovenian regions, and establish local convention bureaus that will contribute to a more balanced development and greater visibility of Slovenia as a destination for business meetings in the long term.
