21st Annual General Assembly of the Slovenian Convention Bureau with the Expert Council successfully concluded

Ljubljana, April 4, 2025 – On April 3, 2025, the 21st Annual Meeting of the Slovenian Convention Bureau was held at the Hotel Slon in Ljubljana. The event once again brought together key representatives of the Slovenian conference industry and experts who exchanged opinions and explored trends and opportunities in this important field.

After the opening welcome and speeches, there was a presentation of the activities of the Slovenian Convention Bureau (SCB), which covered both current projects and future plans for the continued development of Slovenia’s professional meetings and events sector. This was followed by a professional segment, during which the first part of the new strategy of the Slovenian Convention Bureau was presented.

Focus on the SCB strategy for the 20252030 period

In the first lecture, participants were introduced in detail to the first part of the Slovenian Convention Bureau’s strategy for the 2025-2030 period. The presentation highlighted the key goals and guidelines that will direct the SCB’s work in the coming years. The main focus is on increasing Slovenia’s competitiveness as a destination for various professional meetings, events, and motivational trips, strengthening cooperation with international organizations, and promoting the sustainable development of the industry with a greater emphasis on green and environmentally friendly events. SCB will also focus on the further development of the industry and the promotion of Slovenia as an attractive destination for professional events, meetings, and motivational trips.

Among the most important points of the meeting were the elections for the new member of the SCB’s Expert Council, who will participate in shaping the future of the organization. After the elections, participants listened to two more expert lectures, which focused on the development trends of competing destinations and highlighted the advantages of Slovenia as a conference destination.

At the event, Tobia Salvadori from Convention Bureau Italia and Jörg Herrmann from K.I.T. Group GmbH contributed with their expert presentations, offering valuable insights into current topics in the meetings industry. On this occasion, we also congratulate Gorazd Čad on his election to the Institute’s Council.

“This year’s meeting was an opportunity to exchange important experiences and further strengthen Slovenia as a competitive destination for organizing international congresses and meetings. SCB is focused on strategic development, which will take Slovenia to an even higher level in the global professional meetings, events, and motivational travel industry,” said Fredi Fontanot, Director of the Slovenian Convention Bureau.

The event concluded with a networking session, where participants took the opportunity to personally exchange experiences, ideas and strengthen business connections, further consolidating Slovenia’s position as one of the leading conference and tourism destinations in the region.

SCB would like to thank all the participants, speakers, and contributors who helped make this year’s meeting a success. The meeting once again confirmed the importance of Slovenia as a significant and attractive destination for organizing congresses, professional meetings, events, and motivational experiences at the highest international level. A sincere thank you also goes to our host, Best Western Premier Hotel Slon, for their exceptional hospitality and support in organizing the event.
