The annual meeting and general assembly of the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) is not just an event—it’s an exceptional opportunity laden with potential for local hosts. However, it also presents a significant challenge. Hosting an event graced by professional colleagues and esteemed members of organizations like IAPCO, which establish global benchmarks in event organization, is both an honour and a responsibility.
From February 28 to March 2, 2024, Cankarjev dom, a proud member of IAPCO since 1980 and located in Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, rose to this challenge. Collaborating closely with IAPCO’s leadership, Cankarjev dom flawlessly organized the 54th annual meeting and subsequent general assembly. This year’s theme, “Be the Flow” urged participants to drive action and innovation in the fast-evolving meetings industry, particularly towards sustainability. IAPCO Ljubljana 2024 placed a strong emphasis on minimizing the environmental footprint of meetings and championing sustainability. This initiative aligns perfectly with IAPCO’s mission to make meetings more environmentally conscious, socially responsible, and in harmony with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Next on the horizon is the 24th Congress of the European Society for Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ESPRM2024), scheduled to take place in Ljubljana from April 23 to 27, 2024. Proudly co-hosted by the Slovenian Society for Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, this congress boasts an ambitious and dedicated local organizing committee. With nearly 1,000 expected attendees, we anticipate that this event will rejuvenate the association’s regular congress rhythm, fostering the renewal of old friendships and collaborations while forging new connections.
Hot on its heels, another significant event is slated for May 25 to 28, 2024. Ljubljana and Cankarjev dom will play host to the 21st International Fotona Weekend and the 14th LA&HA Symposium. These events are expected to draw 800 experts from various fields of aesthetic medicine and dermatology.
As we move towards the summer, Cankarjev dom will continue to host a series of meetings closely aligned with the national academic landscape. The dedicated congress team at Cankarjev dom remains committed to excellence and innovation in event organization.
