At the end of January several fam trips revealing the best meetings destinations of Slovenia were held in scope of Conventa, New Europe exhibition for meeting, events and incentives.
Bled Familiarisation Trip
The Bled familiarisation trip was hosted by the Bled Tourist Board & Convention Bureau in cooperation with local providers (Sava Hoteli Bled, Vila Prešeren, Best Western Premier Hotel Lovec, Vila Bled, Bled Island and Bled Castle).
The 21 participants of the fam trip were welcomed to Bled with homemade local snacks and an invitation to plant their own herbs in the Sava Hoteli Bled’s herbal garden. This was followed by a torch-lit walk to the Vila Prešeren for dinner, and a surprise awaited the guests on the way: they were photographed in the company of two elves, with Bled island and castle in the background. After the delicious dinner, participants could choose to return to the Golf Hotel on foot or by boat.
On the following morning, guests were greeted by two former professional rowers from Bled, one of whom holds an Olympic medal, and asked to join them for a short workout. The group was then taken by boat to the island, and the hosts had another surprise in store: a short concert in the island church, a welcome by the parish priest and a slice of Slovenia’s authentic “potica” cake. Before venturing on to the castle, participants had a chance to view the stunning mural in the Vila Bled’s Concert hall. At Bled Castle, they were greeted by the Mayor of Bled, who recounted some interesting facts from Bled’s rich history and accompanied the group to the castle printer’s for the printing of a certificate on a replica of an ancient press and to the wine cellar for the bottling of wine. After another culinary highlight, the lunch at the Lovec Hotel, those who could stay on were taken to the charming nearby town of Radovljica, where they went for a stroll through the medieval town core and visited the gingerbread museum.
The fam trip was a success, with highlights and surprises which will long stay in the memories of the participants. As one of the participants put it: “I am very happy to have chosen Bled for the fam trip. It is a very charming place that I find convenient for my VIPs groups. Its exclusivity and tranquillity made Bled the perfect destination for seminars.” (Miriam Molero, Attentive, Madrid).
Fam trips were also organized to Ljubljana, Kranjska Gora, Portorož. Hosted buyers were asked to grade their level of satisfaction with the programme of fam trips and presentation of the meetings offer. They were most satisfied with Ljubljana (5) and Portorož (5), followed by Bled (4,82), Kranjska Gora pre- tour (4,75) and post-tour (4,67). All in all, the fam trips were extremely educational and remain an important part of the Conventa experience.
