As usual, companies at the beginning of the year, plan their investments and one of the Slovenian leading convention centres is not an exception.
GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre comprises 20 multifunctional halls that occupy a surface area of 12,323 m² and Kocka Hall with 2456 m² is their largest space. With its massive floor space and good height, this hall allows the quickest transformation from a concert hall into a classy restaurant or a modern conference classroom, a gallery or an ideal dance event venue. In January and February, the GR technical team intensively worked on improving the acoustics of Kocka Hall, so from now on the hall will offer even greater sound.
Marko Peinkiher, Head of IT & AV Technologies at GR: “We have massively renovated and improved the acoustics in Kocka Hall. Our wish was to meet the demands of concert events with accompanied TV recordings and for this reason we did a detailed plan, measurements and study which was later our guideline for the renovation. We used different sound-absorbing materials and covered the hall walls with special plates and fillers, the ceiling with buffer for the sound absorption and the glass wall on the west side of the building, which was one of our biggest disturbing factor regarding the sound, was covered with the acoustic curtain – all to improve the sound absorption and the whole sound in the hall”.
Without a doubt, the sound parameter is very important in evaluating and planning the acoustics of halls for music and other kinds of events, such as using the hall as TV studio for advertising and other commercial purposes, fiction etc. Modern architecture with cultural heritage topped with great technical solutions, will provide GR even better chances for best events that need quality sound system – concerts, congresses, conferences, plenary sessions, etc. Big concerts for 3,000 – 4,000 people will now enjoy amazing sound system and from now on, every event in the acoustically renovated hall Kocka will sound even more fantastic! Starting in February with EMA 2017, Slovenian contest for Eurovision Song contest 2017.
