Ljubljana in Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe 2020 Selection

After the first edition of Michelin guide for Slovenia had been released, Ljubljana is featured also in the Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe 2020 selection, with its first Michelin star restaurant Atelje.

The Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe 2020 brings together great ideas for unforgettable gastronomic experiences in the capitals and major cities of Europe, boasting Michelin-starred restaurants. This year’s edition of the guide, which first saw the light of day in 1982, includes more than 1,850 restaurants from 39 cities and 23 countries.

Among them is also the Ljubljana restaurant Atelje, awarded one star by Michelin inspectors. It is run by master chef Jorg Zupan, who, according to Michelin, “uses his rich experience gained in different parts of the world, thus creating simple but refined dishes in a fashionable and relaxed way.

Ljubljana also has its first Bib Gourmand restaurant, Gostilna Na Gradu, which is, as they pointed out, “another reason to celebrate the inclusion of the Slovenian capital in the Main cities of Europe 2020 guide”.

With different gastronomic enthusiasts in mind, Michelin recommends the best restaurants of different price ranges and amenities. Thus, the Main Cities of Europe 2020 guide also includes Ljubljana restaurants that have acquired the Michelin plate: AS, B-Restaurant, Cubo, Harfa, JB, Maxim, Monstera Bistro, Separé, Shambala, Strelec, Sushimama, Valvas’or and Vander.

Gwendal Poullennec, the global director of Michelin guides, emphasized that the release of the guide came at just the right time, coinciding with the gradual opening of restaurants across Europe: “The new awards highlight the wide range and quality of restaurants from across Europe. We are aware that foodies yearn to rediscover the joy of dining out. Our inspectors share the same enthusiasm and look forward to once again highlighting the passion and creativity of the best chefs to our readers.”
