Walter Hofer will introduce his successor in the Logar valley
From 5 to 7 September a high-level meeting of representatives of the International Ski Federation (FIS), who represent ski jumps and nordic combined, took place in Ljubno ob Savinji in the Logar valley. Several important decisions will be made at the meeting at which the FIS Race Director, Walter Hofer, will be present. Hofer will also introduce his successor, the Italian Sandro Pertile. The three-day meeting will be attended by the heads of ski judging organisations from 19 countries.
Winter olympics among the topics for discussion
The main part of the meeting will be work-oriented. Decisions will be taken about very important matters, such as defining technical delegates, their assistants and judges at the next Olympic Games in Peking in 2022, world championships such as Planica and Obersdorf, and the World Cup. Discussions will also take place about changes to competition rules.
Esteemed international participants
At the three-day meeting there will be heads of judging organisations from Japan, Finland, Turkey, Kazakhstan, France, Norway, Canada, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Estonia, South Korea, Russia, the USA, and Slovenia.
“The participants will stay in Hotel Plesnik in the Logar valley, which has a congress hall suitable for such a high-level meeting”, said the coordinator of the meeting and president of the organising committee of the Ljubno World Cup, Rajko Pintar.
Organisation of the meeting is a great acknowledgement
During the visit the guests will see the ski jump ramp in Ljubno as well as other attractions in Ljubno and Solčava. Both municipalities are supporting the meeting with the mayoress of Solčava, Katarina Prelesnik, and Ljubno’s mayor, Franjo Naraločnik, at the helm.
“For Ljubno’s ski and ski jump workers the organisation of such a meeting is a great acknowledgement, as only a select few centres have such an opportunity. Last year’s meeting was held in Venice. The event will therefore also be an important piece in the mosaic of recognition of our valley on the tourist map of the world”, added Pintar.
