This is almost a believe-it-or-not section, but Ashley Colburn’s travel documentary on Slovenia won an Emmy Award! The project was supported by the Slovenian Tourist Board.
Ashley Colburn, an American TV host, producer, writer and travel junkie is a three-time EMMY Award winning travel expert whose film about Slovenia won the Emmy® Award in the Historical, Cultural Documentary category. The project was supported by the STB. She filmed in Slovenia in June last year. At the awards ceremony she wore a dress by Slovenian designer Matea Bennedetti, renowned for her sustainable dresses. This is already her third EMMY.
Upon receiving the award, Ashley stated: “As a travel producer and host, the last few years have been difficult. I was thrilled to be welcomed to Slovenia to film my travel show entirely outside in nature during their Green and Safe campaign. There is no other place like Slovenia, full of beautiful nature, amazing food and wine, adventure around every corner and friendly people. Slovenia is the true gem in Europe. I dedicated the EMMY to the people of Slovenia, thank you for letting me explore your breathtaking country! Around every corner is a view worthy of a picture, I couldn’t put my camera down! I can’t wait to come back, after all my husband has Slovenian roots, so I need to show him his homeland! Special thanks to the National Tourism Board for their support creating this program, you do an amazing job promoting your country! This award has given me the motivation to keep on traveling and exploring our beautiful world.”
In her travel documentary, which is part of her WONDERS international travel series filmed in Croatia, Slovenia, Latvia and Switzerland, Ashley Colburn presented Slovenia as a green and safe destination for 5-star experiences. She was in Slovenia in June 2021 and visited Ljubljana, Bled with Vintgar Gorge,Bohinj and the hinterland, Ptuj and the Puklavec wine cellar, Maribor, The Rogla Treetop Walk, Celje, Postojna Cave, Piran, Soča Valley and Kranjska Gora.
