The international organisation World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has ranked Ljubljana as a finalist in this year’s selection for the WTTC Tourism for Tomorrow Award. Ljubljana is one of the three finalists in the category of tourist destinations.
The WTTC Tourism for Tomorrow Awards are awarded to encourage and acknowledge developments in sustainable tourism to inspire and educate tourist providers and destinations to improve on their practice of sustainable tourism. These awards are among the highest accolades in sustainable directives and tourist industry. Fifteen finalists in five categories have been announced this year.
The tourist destinations category awards are received by the destination organisation, which portray their commitment to support and implementation of best practices in the field of sustainable tourism. Ljubljana, which is also the Green Capital of Europe 2016, is joined as finalists in the category by Taiwan (Northeast and Yilan Coast) and Sozopol (Bolgaria). Winners will be announced on 16 April 2015 in Madrid.
