Slovenian Convention Bureau presents ambitious plan for 2024 on the occasion of its 20th anniversary

The Slovenian Convention Bureau unveils an ambitious plan for 2024, focusing on innovation and strengthening the Slovenia Meetings community. While maintaining its core activities, several innovations are planned to further strengthen Slovenia’s role on the international meetings, incentives and events scene. This year will also mark a special anniversary – the 20th anniversary of the Bureau.

The Slovenian Convention Bureau celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. On the occasion of this special anniversary and milestone, all the activities of the Bureau in 2024 will be focused on celebrating and reflecting on the journey we have travelled, while looking to the future. Various events, meetings, innovative projects and promotional activities will mark the achievements and role of the Slovenian Convention Bureau in the national and international arena. Special emphasis will be placed on establishing sustainable links, exchanging ideas and promoting innovation in the field of meetings, incentives and events. The detailed activities of the work programme for 2024 will be presented by the Slovenian Convention Bureau at the Annual General Assembly and the Professional Council of the Slovenian Convention Bureau on 11 April 2024 in Ljubljana.

Among the most important innovations is the reintroduction of larger stands at the IBTM World in Barcelona and IMEX Frankfurt. This step allows for interactive presentations that will attract the attention of international visitors.

Special attention was also paid to the organisation of the first Conventa Crossroads Forum, which brought together key decision-makers in the meetings industry. The event, co-organised by the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport and the Slovenian Tourist Board, provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and learn more about the importance of the meetings industry in Slovenia.

In the educational segment, a two-stage training course for members will be held this year, aimed at both young and experienced staff in the domestic meetings, events and incentives industry.

The Slovenian Convention Bureau will also continue with group and individual fam trips and other study visits to Slovenia for target customer segments from key target markets in Europe, which will enable a better understanding of Slovenia’s offer. In line with the Slovenian Tourist Board’s work programme, the Slovenian Convention Bureau will also proactively participate in a number of promotional events abroad, where it will actively present Slovenia as an excellent destination for various meetings, events and incentive trips, while highlighting Slovenia’s potential in terms of economic, cultural and tourism terms. Special emphasis will be placed on attracting the domestic market and finding new members and partners within the Slovenian meetings and events industry.

The main focus will be on raising awareness of the importance of the meetings and events industry in Slovenia and its key advantages compared to other segments of tourism. Through these innovative approaches, the Bureau is taking a step forward in establishing Slovenia as a leading destination for business events and meetings.

Through a steadfast commitment to quality and innovation, the Slovenian Convention Bureau is working to create sustainable and successful meetings in Slovenia and to consolidate its role in the global meetings market.
