ECTAA, the European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Association, was invited to hold its semi-annual meeting in the beautiful capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, at the end of May 2016. A delegation of 70 CEOs and presidents of travel agents and travel agents’ associations are discussing industry and EU policy developments impacting on the travel trade in Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016.
The semi-annual meeting in green, active and healthy Slovenia is part of an agreement signed between ECTAA and the Slovenian Tourist Board to help raise awareness and promote Slovenia through the network of travel agents and tour operators across Europe, highlighting the diversity of its natural resources and cultural heritage as well as the diversity of travel and tourism products on offer, ranging from green and eco-tourism, to health and wellness tourism and active holidays.
The Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board, Maja Pak, commented: “We are glad that the renowned European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Association (ECTAA) has selected our country for such an important event as its General Assembly meeting. We are also excited about the title of Preferred Destination of the Year 2016, which contributes to the positioning of Slovenia as a visible European tourist destination among tourism business professionals.”
“We are very proud to work with such a strong partner as the Slovenian Tourist Board. We expect that the agreement will serve as a bridgehead for expanding awareness of Slovenia in the travel agent community,” said the President of ECTAA, Lars Thykier.
The ECTAA President-elect, Merike Hallik, added: “We are confident that the Preferred Destination agreement will bring mutual benefits for the two parties and will foster strong relationships between Slovenian incoming agents and our travel agents and tour operator members.”
