In early June, Grand Hotel Union Business hosted the England National Football Team.
The 30 members of the team and the head coach arrived in Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana on 13 June, for the next day’s match against Slovenia – the qualifier for the 2016 European Championship. Not only for Ljubljana, but also for the whole of Slovenia, this day was a proper football feast. At Grand Hotel Union they had been looking forward to it because of new challenges, mostly culinary ones.
SPECIAL MEALS FOR THE FOOTBALL TEAM
The organizers of the England National Football Team’s trip took care of all the necessary nutrition– and logistics-related arrangements weeks prior to the Team’s arrival and also announced that the team would be accompanied by the Team’s chef, who then, during their stay in Ljubljana, worked with the hotel’s kitchen staff to prepare special meals according to the nutrition programme developed by the Team’s doctor. The chefs of Grand Hotel Union prepared all of the meals in front of the guests in the so-called front kitchen. The meals were based on simplicity and light ingredients and were served buffet-style.

After their triumphant match, the English football players enjoyed a short rest at the hotel and then flew back home to England.
