Slovenian Edition of Gault & Millau to be Launched This Year

Influential French restaurant guide Gault & Millau  will expand the list of countries where it rates restaurants this year. As of October, Slovenian restaurants and chefs will also be graded, while the Slovenian edition of the guide will also present local wine varieties and various home-made products.

“Gastronomy is a key product of the Slovenian tourism and this is a big step for the promotion of Slovenia”, head of the Slovenian Tourist Board Maja Pak said. Slovenian cuisine attracted international attention at the start of last year, when chef Ana Roš of the Hiša Franko restaurant in the western town of Kobarid was declared the World’s Best Female Chef by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants culinary portal.

Gault & Millau is one of the most important culinary guides next to the Michelin Guide. “It’s not an elitist guide that would rate only the most prestigious restaurants,” the director of Gault & Millau Slovenija, Mira Šemić, told the press on Tuesday. The best restaurant, best female and male chefs, and the best young talent will be picked by October, the acclaimed sommelier said.
