On 11 April 2024, on the Global Meetings Industry Day, the Slovenian Convention Bureau held the 20th General Assembly and Expert Council at the Ljubljana Castle . The event, titled “Twenty years of co-creating the future of events in Slovenia”, convened key stakeholders that helped establish, develop and evolve the Slovenian Convention Bureau in its two decades of operation.
The historic milestone proved an opportunity to review current plans and reflect on the vision that will guide the future of the Slovenian meetings industry. The event included a varied professional program that highlighted key trends in the digital world, with an emphasis on artificial intelligence and sustainability.
As part of the event, the Slovenian Convention Bureau received a special award from the Slovenian Tourist Board for 20 years of successful operation and contribution to developing the Slovenian meetings industry. In addition, elections were held for members of the Expert Council of the Slovenian Convention Bureau. The elected members include Jure Jezeršek from Jezeršek Catering, Katja Korošec from Gospodarsko razstavišče, Tomaž Krušič from Intours DMC, Milan Sajovic from HIT Alpinea, Petra Stušek from Ljubljana Tourism and Matjaž Žnidaršič from Sava Tourism.
Fredi Fontanot, the Director of the Slovenian Convention Bureau, stressed:“Our vision is to continue to build on our successes and position Slovenia as one of the leading destinations for international events. Together, we will continue to introduce innovations, adopt sustainable approaches and cooperate with all stakeholders to ensure the sustainable growth and development of the meetings industry in Slovenia.”
Maja Pak Olaj, the Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board, added: “Today we look back with pride – at a long, often demanding, but certainly beautiful and inspiring journey together, on which we built and strengthened the foundations of the meetings industry in Slovenia,” she said.
