At the end of October 2022, the winter timetable came into effect in air traffic. Direct connections of 12 regular airlines will be available to 14 destinations from Ljubljana Airport until the end of March 2023. Almost 750,000 passengers have been handled until end of September, 174 % more than in the same period last year.
Five carriers are increasing their frequencies in the winter timetable. Flydubai will be upgrading its service to Dubai from five weekly flights to a daily connection as of December 22. Turkish Airlines will be offering 12 weekly flights to Istanbul from February 2023 onwards (up from 10 weekly flights today), this frequency being introduced in the winter season for the first time since they started flying to Ljubljana. Air Serbia will be flying to Belgrade twice daily (now flying twelve times weekly), Air Montenegro to Podgorica three times weekly (now twice weekly) and Swiss Airlines will be upgrading its service to Zurich from six to nine weekly flights.
On the other nine offered connections airlines will be operating essentially the same number of weekly flights as they do now:

»A successful summer season brought the hustle and bustle back to Ljubljana Airport. Five connections will be strengthened with additional frequencies in the winter timetable, and on the remaining carriers will be offering essentially the same number of flights as in the summer season. Turkish Airlines will be introducing 12 weekly flights to Istanbul for the first time in the winter timetable, flydubai will be upgrading its route to Dubai after one year at Ljubljana Airport. The number of airlines connecting Slovenia to the world will again reach the pre-pandemic times, when 12 had been present. As traffic continues to recover, we hope to approach one million handled passengers by the end of the year,« Dr. Babett Stapel, the Managing Director of Fraport Slovenija said just before the winter timetable steps into force.
For the autumn school holidays charter passengers will be able to fly to Egypt (Hurghada), Turkey (Antalya), Spain (Vitoria, Bilbao) and to Malta. Until the end of the year Slovenian travel agencies will also be offering charter flights to Albania, Madeira, The Azores and Lapland.
More than 118,000 passengers have traveled through Ljubljana Airport in September, which is an increase of 82% compared to September 2021. In the period from January to September almost 750,000 passengers have been handled, 174% more than in the same period last year. Given that the expected passenger growth in the last quarter of 2022 is realized, we will see close to a million passengers travelling through Ljubljana Airport. Cargo traffic is also growing. In the period from January to September 20.700 tons of cargo have been handled at Ljubljana Airport, which represents a 7.4 % increase compared to the same period last year.
