I FEELSLOVENIA
Slovenia is a fairly new meetings and incentive destination and one that is steadily making its mark on the global meetings industry map, as it is certainly a country that has a lot to offer and stands out from other destinations in many, many ways. Firstly is the fact that it is the only country in Europe that can offer the Alps, the Mediterranean, the Pannonian Plain and the Karst region all in one package, which in itself makes Slovenia a destination really worth exploring. Then there is the often neglected yet very important human factor that is another huge aspect of the country’s allure – Slovenians are energetic, hard-working and reliable people who add a ‘personal touch’ to everything they do. Their genuine hospitality and warmth has a worldwide renown, as does their positive attitude of always preferring to look on the bright side of life. For Slovenians, being from a small European country is a boon rather than a hindrance, as because they have had to compete with the industry’s bigger players they have learned how to work harder, better and more efficiently.
On top of all this is the Slovenian gastronomic offer that is also truly exceptional, with its wide-ranging cuisine influenced by the diversity of the Slovenian landscape, the climate, its history and its neighbouring cultures. Today there are at least 170 recognised and typical dishes to choose from – right from the delightful appetisers through to a fine selection of mouth-watering desserts and everything in between – and the list is growing every day through Slovenia’s vibrant gastronomic scene. Accompanying such great fare is the excellent range of Slovenian wines, with many wine experts rating Slovenian wine-growing areas amongst the very best in the world.
