From Art to Action: Slovenia’s Congress Ambassadors Gather

11 June, 2025 Last week, the Slovenian Convention Bureau and the Ljubljana Convention Bureau hosted a meeting of the Slovenian Congress Ambassadors – experts and scientists whose work contributes significantly to the international recognition of Slovenia as a prime destination for international scientific, professional and business events.

The Congress Ambassador Program, which has been running since 2019 with the financial support of the Slovenian Tourist Board, boosts the development of MICE tourism in Slovenia. It brings together dedicated individuals from diverse scientific, research and professional fields who, with their knowledge, reputation and international connections, actively contribute to attracting important congresses and conferences to Slovenia. Their efforts place our country among the most recognizable destinations on the congress map of Europe and beyond.

The event was also a chance for live networking between the project partners, exchange of experience and consolidation of cooperation, vital for successfully attaining and planning global gatherings.

Culture as the connecting link

The meeting began with a cultural experience – a visit to the Baroque exhibition at the National Gallery, where participants viewed a superb collection of over 170 Baroque artworks created in Slovenia or for the Slovenian territory. The exhibition showcases the rich artistic heritage of the 17th and 18th centuries. A tour encompassing the entire first floor of the National Gallery took participants back to a time shaped by the mixture of faith, aesthetics and power.

Socializing over outstanding cuisine

The cultural part was followed by lunch at the Pen Klub restaurant, a gem of Ljubljana’s culinary scene. The intimate setting, marked by the history of Slovenian literature, was ideal for a relaxed continuation of the meeting. Over exquisite dishes and wines, participants strengthened their ties and planned new opportunities for cooperation. Discussion touched on concrete projects as well as the broader challenges of MICE tourism and program development, with a strong emphasis on the desire to further networking between industry stakeholders, destinations and supporting institutions.

Together for a strong future of Slovenian MICE tourism

The Congress Ambassador Program remains a key mechanism for the long-term positioning of Slovenia as a leading MICE destination, by harnessing knowledge, hospitality, innovation and passion for networking.

We’d like to thank all the Congress Ambassadors and partners who, with their commitment and vision, promote Slovenia’s international reputation in the MICE field. Together we are creating the foundations for sustainable development and the global recognition of our country as a place where knowledge and meetings are written into the future.
