This year, the Slovenian Convention Bureau in close cooperation with the Slovenian Tourist Board and 13 Slovenian MICE providers took part in the virtual edition of the trade show IMEX Frankfurt, the Planet IMEX.
In its desire to give back to the international business events, meetings and incentive travel industry following the massive outpouring of support since IMEX in Frankfurt was cancelled, the IMEX team have created a brand-new virtual experience, which launched on 6 May 2020.
The platform has been designed as a destination in its own right and featured 3D, interactive islands, each created using principles borrowed from the world of online gaming. All participants had unlimited, free access to a variety of content and activities on three islands: a beach-themed Community Island; a forest-inspired Education Island and a Networking Island characterised by canyons, mountains and valleys.
Among a variety of educational and networking opportunities, the new Planet IMEX platform offered the possibility of virtual meetings between exhibitors and potential clients. Slovenian Convention Bureau gladly participated and presented the Slovenia Meetings offer with its key advantages to potential clients. Additional promotion was reached with the Slovenia Meetings PR editorials, which were digitally available to the international meetings industry community.
The Slovenian Convention Bureau, together with the participating partners, successfully navigated through the new challenges within the IMEX Planet. A one-month and carefully designed online experience offered all participants new, valuable business opportunities – presentation possibilities, new knowledge and insights, and simply – the opportunity to connect with each other in a fresh and different way. The organizer stated that they will continue to develop the concept of IMEX Planet and announced dates for the next year shows, IMEX Frankfurt 2021 and Frankfurt and IMEX America 2021.
