Ljubljana’s GR – Exhibition and Convention Centre Expecting an Eventful Year

In the year that is coming to its end, GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and  Convention Centre (GR) celebrated its 65th anniversary. For the next year, when marking the 66th year of its operations, the largest congress venue in Slovenia is expecting a diverse line of events. GR’s long-standing tradition and related experience of a highly motivated team annually perform 20 fairs. In addition, GR organises and hosts conferences, and various cultural and entertainment events. Let’s see just some of the upcoming main highlights of 2020 in the GR.

Eventful fairs season ahead

GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre is starting its 2020 season with Conventa, the 12th meetings and incentive travel show for the region of the Southeast Europe in organization by The Slovenian Convention Bureau on 22 – 24 January. Also in January there will be Informativa,the slovenian education and career fair, and GASTexpo – Fairs of Tastes, the 14th international fair of gastronomy and catering hotel equipment.

In February, the GR will for the third time host the international B2B trade fair Smart Industry, a quadruple fair of four specialized trade fairs – IFAMROBOTICSICT4Industry, and INTRONIKA. In March there will be 14th international collectors fair, Collecta 2020. In October, ECO WAVE and CLEAN ME, and the Running Fair »TEČEM«, EXPO, which will accompany the 25th Ljubljana Marathon, will take place inside the GR.

Plenty of meetings and conferences

In late May the Mercury Training, marketing conference; in June ECSITE Conference, the annual science communication conference; in July FEBS, the Federation of European Biochemical Societies, and in September, EBJIS 2020, the 39th annual meeting of the European bone and joint infection society will bring international participants to the GR.

Organized and hosted by GR

Since the start of its congress and event operations in 1954, the GR has become the largest Slovenian event centre for congresses, fairs, business conferences, and other meetings. Some of the events the GR organizes in its own production. Among them the Alpe-Adria Fair, the 31st international tourism, camping and caravaning fair that will in 2020 take place between 29 January and 1 February. In mid-March, another of GR’s own fairs will return – Home Fair, the 59 th international fair of offers for the home, building trade, doors and windows, heating and cooling engineering, interior fittings, security and landscaping that will be on betweeen 4 – 8 March 2020.

In May, GR will in collaboration with the Slovene Federation of Pensioners’ Association (ZDUS) organize and host the second Days of Intergenerational Coexistence. In June the global cycling summit 2020, the Velo-City Conference will take place inside GR. The European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) annual global cycling summit and the world’s largest conference in the area of cycling, cycling infrastructure, bicycle innovations, bicycle safety, and the social and cultural changes driven by cycling on a global scale is organised in collaboration between GR, Dekon Group, and Municipality of Ljubljana.

Nature-Health fair, organised by GR, will take place in late October and will also in its 51st edition offer products, activities and ideas for healthy living. In November, two trade shows at the same time will be organised and hosted by the GR – the Ambient Ljubljana Furniture Fair and the Home Fair +, the 5th international fair of offers for the home, doors and windows, heating and cooling engineering, interior fittings, security and landscapring.
