Timelessly elegant Kempinski Palace Portorož reoped its doors on 3 June and presented a summer bucket list one cannot miss.

The sun is shining, the sea is glistening, the warm Mediterranean breeze is blowing, and Kempinski Palace Portorož, located by the Adriatic Sea in Istria, Slovenia, is reoped on 3 June. The timelessly elegant Palace hotel with a private beach, known for its unique combination of traditional and modern design, is looking forward to welcoming guests!

Understanding that guests are searching for experiences, new culinary tastes and craftsmanship, together with a comfortable and safe feeling, the hotel used the period of closure to prepare new healthy, safe and comfortable experiences for them, always focusing on the Kempinski White Gloves programme.

Kempinski Palace Portorož has prepared a summer Bucket List for guests, providing them with a vast array of options.

1.      Luxury cabanas on the Palace Beach

The pavement, made of white Istrian stone and leading along the edge of the beach, blends with the blue colours of the sea and the sand. Palace Beach, a luxury beach with a view of the clear sea, Portorož piers and neighbouring Croatia, is a sandy beach, equipped with sunbeds, towels and umbrellas, and, most importantly… luxury cabanas for two!

A newly designed beach facility from 2020 is offering a selection of luxury services, with a novelty this year: luxury beach baskets, filled with bubbly moments and food and beverages of guests’ choice, which get delivered to the guest at the beach. For guests staying in a suite, luxury cabanas are offered on a complimentary basis.

2.      Luxury Istrian picnic in the park

The more than 100-year-old historical park in front of the Palace hotel, whose trees provide ideal shade in the summer heat, is proclaimed a natural heritage of Slovenia. Beautiful greenery and a selection of vibrant roses represent a unique location for a luxury Istrian picnic.

Both guests of the hotel and local daily guests have the pleasure of enjoying a picnic in the historical park – a completely safe and comfortable experience, coloured with local amenities and exceptional food and drinks. One can choose one’s preferred package and decide on a completely new experience, seen nowhere else in the destination.

3.      Bubbly moments in the historical park and Forma Viva

A historical park, natural shadow, Italian coffee and music from the vinyl gramophone player, playing French chansons – it sounds like a scene from a film set, yet one can experience this at the Forma Viva Coffee & Pastry in the park of the Palace hotel. Combining this with a bottle of Champagne and Istrian cold cuts means that the summer afternoon is planned.

4.      Sushi moments at Fleur de Sel restaurant, by the pool and on the beach

Nigiri, maki, sashimi… Did anybody say sushi?

All lovers of Japanese food are in for a treat: Sushi is coming to Kempinski Palace Portorož as part of the seasonal summer offer. With a new sushi chef, the hotel is expanding its culinary offer to provide choices for all tastes and styles of cuisine. And what better way to eat can one imagine than having a sushi lunch on the Palace Beach while catching the sunrays?

5. Dinner under the stars in Michelin Plate-awarded restaurant Sophia

A summer-themed menu, inspired by the timeless beauty of Sophia Loren, presents traditional Mediterranean and Istrian cuisine, represented in a modern way and combined with innovative cooking techniques. For those deciding on a private ultra-luxury experience of Dinner Under the Stars, the chef will pamper them with the “Sophia Loren Signature Menu” or one of the degustation menus.

6.      Organic olive-oil Olive Garden Cosmetics treatments at the Rose Spa

Rose Spa proudly presents its new menu, which features a new section: signature local treatments made with organic olive oil-based Olive Garden Cosmetics products. Guests can also book treatments online on the way to the hotel through a new booking system, providing them with a safe and comfortable reservation process.

7.      Breakfast until 12:00 noon in the Crystal Hall

Sleeping longer is what holidays are made for! Early birds can first decide on an early morning swim in the sea-water-filled swimming pool, while those who enjoy sleeping in take some extra rest, with both parties having the option to enjoy breakfast from 7:00 in the morning until 12:00 noon. Whether eating eggs Benedict on the breakfast terrace with the view of the historical park or sipping champagne under the crystal chandelier of the Crystal Hall, the morning routine is perfected for all styles and tastes.

8.      Combine Alps & Adria with Kempinski hotels

Summers are a time of road trips! Experience the scenic route from the Alpine region all the way towards the Adriatic coastline and connect three Kempinski hotels on the way: Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden, Germany; Kempinski Palace Portorož; and Kempinski Hotel Adriatic. The ever-changing scenery will take guests from the dramatic mountain peaks through the panoramic valleys and towards the seaside.

9.      Bike rental & tour to picturesque town of Piran

With all the relaxation activities on the beach, by the pool and in the spa, guests also have the option of more active experiences: Rent a BMW bike at the hotel and go on a cycling tour towards the historical city of Piran and learn about the secrets of this picturesque town, often called Little Venice. The hotel’s cycling concierge, Marjan, is happy to provide information on the best routes and best Instagram points with scenic panoramic views.

10.    Experience destination with vintage tours

Those who are enthusiasts of local experiences and desire unique experiences at the destination can choose between two exceptional vintage tours: the Vintage Boat Tour, starting at the pier in front of the hotel and providing the guest with an exceptional view of Kempinski Palace Portorož from the sea, or the Vintage Oliver Tour, beginning in front of the hotel with vintage cars, taking the guest to an olive-oil plantation and providing them with an olive-oil degustation of olive-oil brands used at the hotel.
