Days of Slovenian Lawyers, a traditional meeting which is as usual taking place in the coastal town of Portorož was held this year from 13th to 15th October 2016. The traditional event usually attracts from 500 – 1,000 participants, from judges, prosecutors, lawyers, corporate lawyers, human resource managers, lawyers in public administration, university professors, etc.
The organizers of the event are Association of Slovenian Jurists, Association for Commercial Law Slovenia and IUS SOFTW (GV Publisher). Grand Hotel Bernardin traditionally hosted this event, focused on new knowledge, exchange of experience and good practice, solutions to problems from practice, networking and spreading the circle of colleagues from the profession, socializing and a great evening event.
More than 60 professionals spoke through the 3-day programme with topical issues of labour law, criminal law – current issues of theory and case law, corporate governance in the public sector, arrangements for same-sex partnerships and families in Slovenian and foreign jurisdictions, financial securities, selected issues of refugee and migrant crisis, outstanding issues of public procurement, withdrawal of assets – between the law and the will of the majority, new spatial planning and construction law, new dimensions of spatial legacies and round tables focusing on (criminal) responsibility bankers for bad bank loans and Legal non-responsibility for decision makers, including judges.
